Today we begin a new chapter is "Cause and Effect" first teacher to read text and view sample diagrams showing cause and effect. Then we'll practice It is a sentence that is one of cause and effect. We circular mark on the causes and consequences underlined. I think it's a great way to remember the difference between cause and effect when we read. Next, we read some paragraphs Paragraph about the Titanic.

I can diagram and filled in correctly, because when I read the circular mark. That allows me to understand the message.
I think this is a difficult lesson. Perhaps we confuse what is the cause? This is the impact? But we can use to help understand for textbooks. It is not necessary to know all of the words in texts. But we can guess.

I agree with the view Tannen's because I'm a woman and I think women like to tell a story about someone other than her story. In addition, I look at myself when I talk to people, I like to tell about the stupid things that I've done because I want them to have fun. On the other hand, I see many people would like to say something that makes them seem to have confidence in yourself.

Week 7: Procedure

Procedure

Today, teachers taught us about the meaning and purpose of the procedure. The purpose is to tell the reader what to do or make something. We then read large amounts of text, for example, how to cook an omelet to cook chicken soup, etc.

omelet

Ingredients

2 large free-range eggs
sea salt
freshly ground black pepper
1 small knob butter
1 small handful Cheddar cheese, grated, optional.

Method

Basic omelette:
Crack the eggs into a mixing bowl with a pinch of salt and pepper. Beat well with a fork.

Put a small frying pan on a low heat and let it get hot. Add a small knob of butter. When the butter has melted and is bubbling, add your eggs and move the pan around to spread them out evenly. When the omelette begins to cook and firm up, but still has a little raw egg on top, sprinkle over the cheese, if using (I sometimes grate mine directly on to the omelette).

Using a spatula, ease around the edges of the omelette, then fold it over in half. When it starts to turn golden brown underneath, remove the pan from the heat and slide the omelette on to a plate.

Tomato and basil omelette:
2 or 3 sprigs of fresh basil
a handful of cherry tomatoes

Pick the leaves off the basil and roughly tear them. Cut the cherry tomatoes in half and add to a hot frying pan with a small knob of butter, a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper. Fry and toss around for about 1 minute, then turn the heat down to medium and sprinkle over the basil leaves. Add your eggs and move the pan around to spread them out evenly. Continue as for the basic omelette.

Mushroom omelette:
2 or 3 nice field-type mushrooms
olive oil

Quarter or roughly chop the mushrooms and add to a hot frying pan with a small knob of butter, a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper. Fry and toss around until golden, then turn the heat down to medium. Add your eggs and move the pan around to spread them out evenly. When the omelette begins to cook and firm up, but still has a little raw egg on top, sprinkle over the Cheddar. Continue as for the basic omelette.

chicken soup

Ingredients
Carcass and bones from one 4- to 5-pound roast chicken (or a mild-flavored rotisserie chicken)
4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
2 medium carrots, sliced into 1/4-inch-thick rounds
2 celery stalks, sliced into 1/4-inch-thick slices
1 medium onion, chopped
1 bay leaf
1/2 cup white rice
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Kosher salt

Directions
Put the bones and carcass from a leftover chicken (they can be in pieces) in a large pot. Cover with the broth and 4 cups water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, reduce to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes. Skim any foam or fat from the broth with a ladle as necessary.

Remove the bones and carcass with tongs or a slotted spoon; set aside to cool. Add the carrots, celery, onion and bay leaf to the broth, bring back to a simmer and cook until the vegetables are about half cooked (they will still have resistance when tested with a knife but be somewhat pliable when bent), about 10 minutes. Stir in the rice (to keep it from sticking to the bottom), and cook until the grains are just al dente, 10 to 12 minutes.

Meanwhile, when the carcass and bones are cool enough to handle, pick off the meat, and shred it into bite-size pieces.

When the rice is done, add the meat to the broth and simmer until warmed through, about 1 minute. Stir in the parsley, and season with 1/2 teaspoon salt or more to taste. Serve hot.
